Today, I decided to put a stop to something that has really been killing my overall mood as well as my productivity. Social media as well as just plain old screen time has been depriving me of well, being me really. Staring at the screen all day, scrolling through posts, and watching youtube videos with my eyes constantly glued to the screen wasn't healthy. Sure, technology is great especially now to connect with loved one learn new things. what it's not great for indulging yourself in social media and binge watching videos as if your downloading it to your mainframe. It took me awhile to see it have a negative effect on me but when I did, I decided to put a stop to it as fast as possible.
So I noticed how bad it was when I looked at my daily phone usage which was staggeringly high. Instagram along with youtube was the highest and I feel Instagram is the most at fault compared to youtube. Instagram in it's simplest form is just mindless scrolling of other peoples lives. Simple snippets of peoples lives that they want you to see, not the raw or bad parts of. This of course leads people to believe other peoples lives are perfect and their life is well shit. It can become a real bad habit and it became my bad habit. So I put a limiter to warn me when I passed a certain threshold and warn me when I'm any app too long.
This is only the first step of course and the next thing is following through with it and improving upon it. Not only by cutting off social media as well as screen time will it help me feel better but it'll help me be more productive as a person. I want to do a lot of things in life and being stuck looking at a blue lit screen is not going to help me achieve any of it. So during this quarantine and once we're out of it, stop looking at your screen and start living your life. This has been the Topic of the Week, thanks for reading. Ricardo signing off
