So let's recap the recent Oscars. This year I was generally excited for the Oscars and it somewhat lived up to the hype that I set it. Though I wished that they had a host and not just random cameos of famous actors and actresses that do bits with no connection with one another and proving to be unfunny through and through. The opening of the Oscars was rather uninteresting and strange with a opening number by Monae. It felt awkward and felt like it belonged in a underground concert more so a award show broadcast to millions.

After the awkward opening, the award show picked up after that somewhat and the presenters weren't entirely bad most of the time and my favorite being Steve Martin and Chris Rock as well as the cats spoof done by James Cordon. Most of the movies that every thought were going to win mostly did win with one surprise being Parasite and it's director wining most of the words including Best Picture which was the first time a foreign film did it. It was great to see Bong Joon Ho speech and his praise of other directors that inspired him. My favorite line of the night of course being "I'm going to drink till morning".

Of course, what I looked forward to most was Joaquin Phoenix wining Best Actor award and rightly so. Though, there was a lot of contenders for this years Oscars. He used his time to bring awareness of the division in the world today and went on to also talk about the ill use of dairy farms. He sacrificed himself for the Joker role and truly deserved the Oscar for his portrayal. I would give this Oscars a 7/10. This has been the Topic of the Week, thanks for reading. Ricardo signing off.
