It's that time of year again and tis the season to be jolly, oh wait, thats the wrong holiday. Though most of the time we skip thinking about Thanksgiving and go straight for planning gifts for Christmas. However, in my opinion, Thanksgiving is an important holiday to focus in our life. Yes Christmas gets a lot of the credit for it's jolly sprit and brining the family together, but Thanksgiving is the holiday where you have to sit with your relatives and spend the whole day with them. Its a holiday focusing on bonding with your family and being thankful for whatever you have to be thankful whether it be surrounded by people you love or that sweet kill streak you got on COD.
The sad part is Thanksgiving kind of gets put to the side by Halloween and Christmas. I remember when I was younger and being taught heavily about thanksgiving both for its historical purpose and why its celebrated. However, as the years grew by, the more and more I was taught about and the less I cared for it. All everyone wanted to look for toward the end of the year was the presents under their christmas tree. Not only that, but Black Friday became the new holiday of the November month.
I feel like we as a society have become lesser of what we once was. What I mean by that is that we focused so much of the end product of what we do or accomplish. We want everything has such an accelerated rate and try desperately to not waste time during our day for the little things. We get so caught up with working, moving, and I guess grooving because that rhymed, but you get my point. The world is caught up in a tornado of nonstop motion that we forget to remember the little things.
We forget to remember the nostalgic days when days felt longer and we felt happier. We stress ourselves over the stupidest things and focus on things that we shouldn't give any time to. So that brings me back to Thanksgiving and why you should give a damn about this holiday. This holiday is to focus on you and how far you've come with not only your own perseverance, but with the help of family and friends. Go and enjoy thanksgiving and sit down and relax because this moments you share with those you love only come a few times a year so enjoy. This has been Revisited and Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for reading. Ricardo signing off.
