This topic has been floating in my head ever since that fateful and oh so terrible, season finale of Game of Thrones. Season 8, in my humble opinion, was not a good season by any stretch of the means. Not only was the conclusion not worthy of being a finale to such a grand show, but man was it rushed. Many of the character arcs that was built and woven throughout the show since day one as well as the epic prophecies that we were told over and over were all met with very dull conclusions or was just completely ignored. It was not a good season no matter how much the actors or the show runners disagree. However, even though Season 8 ended it doesn't mean HBO is done with the property. HBO is now copying Disney's strategy of creating spin-offs of their original content that no one really asked for.
You see the one of many great things about Game of Thrones, more so the book than the TV series, is the aura of mystery. Not everything is explained to the reader. Stuff ranging from past history, magic, or even prophecies. Theres so much unexplored content or unexplained instances or events in the series it makes the story both intriguing and feel real. However, with HBO new spin-off shows that wont be the case any longer. Everything will be explained to the viewer and if season 8 is something to go by then were in for quite the treat. Treat meaning it's going to be complete trash. Though there is one savior and that is the all mighty George R.R Martin.
Game of Thrones is not making another season or a reboot season 8. Lets just get that out of our heads. Don't be sad just yet because there is still the unfinished two novels GRRM still has to release if he ever does. To the worldwide's knowledge the books have been delayed numerous times upon numerous times. It seems that we may never get the books since HBO new Ice & Fire series is taking most of GRRM time since he's not only the producer, but writer at times. It also seems like GRRM has written himself in somewhat of a hole. Writing so many characters with so many interacting character arcs in a difficult mess to untangle. It isn't the gordian knot that you can just slice in half and call it there like the show runners did. GRRM is our last and only hope of delivering a satisfying conclusion to the world we all love so much.
Game of Thrones is stuck in limbo at the moment. Season 8 left a bitter taste in many peoples mouth which led to HBO even canceling one of its planed spin-offs shows. Though HBO is still going ahead with their other spin-offs shows, GRRM can still save the series. Hopefully all the characters that we hold dear from the books and the show can have a satisfying conclusion. We may get the same ending as the show, but with a more in depth build up that is justifiable and worthy of the books. So GRRM take your time with the books because we can wait if we already waited this long for whatever you have in store for us. This has been Topic of the Week, thanks for reading. Ricardo signing off.
