Christmas is finally almost here as the dreaded creepy Elf on a Shelf has returned. People have begun their christmas cheer with a binge of christmas classics such as Christmas Vacation, Jingle All The Way, and many many others and others have gotten into baking many multitudes of different flavored cookies to fill their bellies even with cheer. I on the other hand have gotten to the christmas cheer but working 40 hours a week as something has to pay for all my christmas presents for my large family as well as my small group of friends. Christmas of course have given me time as well as some other people a chance to retrospect my surroundings and the things I'm thankful for. I'm of course thankful for my family as well as my friends which at times also make me go deep diving in my nostalgia.
I do at times miss my old cliques that I had when I was in high school. Friends from sports or classes we shared or even long time friends from childhood have gone and went and only a few stand today. Every time I remember a memory from them, it feels like a stab to the gut. However, there is nothing to be done of it. Those memories have gone and went and so did the people that occupied them but that does not mean I have to be sad over what has happen but happy for what once was and move on to meet new people who in turn I'll make knew memories with. Of course, besides all the friends that came and went, I have my family who thank goodness is all healthy and happy which is the thing I'm most thankful this year, especially one as crazy as 2020.
In turn, I'm glad it's christmas and not because it's the end of the year, the gifts, the food, or even the endless snow. I'm glad its christmas because it lets me enjoy the small moments with the people I love and let's me reflect on the year I had. It wasn't the best year by any stretch of the imagination but it was year of progress and no matter what progress is progress and hopefully I finally achieve my dreams in 2021 and beyond because I'm tired of being just short on them and so I welcome christmas and the new year. It has been good but I can do better. Ricardo Signing Off
